AOE releases Flamingo, its new Open Source frontend framework

AOE, leading global provider of services for digital transformation and digital business models, announced the release of its Open Source frontend framework Flamingo. The Framework, written in Go, is intended for the development of sophisticated web applications with customized web frontends.
“We saw a need in the market for a fast and flexible frontend for microservices-oriented commerce platforms,” said Daniel Pötzinger, Chief Technology Officer of AOE. “Flamingo Core is intended for building sophisticated web  applications with tailored frontends. Companies can use Flamingo Core to connect to any backend  system or microservices via API. Flamingo Commerce is designed to fulfill the requirements of E-Commerce applications and easily integrates with headless E-Commerce backends. We chose Go as the programming language, as we believe it is best-suited to meet the demands placed on a microservices-oriented architecture.”

The two components of Flamingo

Flamingo is comprised of two major components, which can be implemented independently:

  1. Flamingo Core, with which developers can build sophisticated web applications with customized web frontends to comply with a company’s business processes and brand CI/CD.
  2. Flamingo Commerce, which provides an additional set of pre-built, customizable E-Commerce features and is based on Flamingo Core. Flamingo Commerce can be used to create the ultimate commerce experience on top of a headless E-Commerce solution.

Flamingo over two years in development

Kian Gould, founder and CEO of AOE, commented, “We are thrilled to  finally be able to Open Source our blazingly fast, scalable framework,  Flamingo. After more than two years of hard work and countless hours  invested in development, we think we have a flexible and powerful tool  to build the best-possible customized frontends for our clients. We have  already successfully implemented Flamingo in several of our enterprise  projects, including London London Heathrow and Auckland International Airport, with more projects to come later this year.”
